A Full Tank of Gas

Gas Gauge icon

I started my Endless Possibilities series today. I started with A Full Tank of Gas.

Of course since this is my first entry for my series, it sets the stage for the rest of the pieces. I opted for a “Web 2.0” kind of feel to it. Glossy and rounded with a decent amount of detail. I had done something similar once for an assignment at work, in which I was given the task of replicating the PRC logo – originally done in Photoshop by a former STA – in Illustrator (If you’re interested, you can find that logo here on my STA wiki). However, because I was not the one who originally designed the logo, I was not present for the design process and would have to face this myself for this new project. Luckily, this first icon was pretty straightforward since it was a simple car gas gauge.

Using the same techniques I used on the PRC logo as well as some I picked up from the internet – like this tutorial I found on giving something metallic shine – I managed to start and finish this icon in one day.

  1. Hi,

Just wondering if i could use your lovely icon for a poster i’m creating? It will be used to promote an internal campaign in my company.
